1 Day tour of the Lake district part 1: From bothel to Hardknott pass from Shane on Vimeo.

This was part of my 1 day 125km tour of the Lake district, to test my new camera and home made mount.

The tour started in Bothel and went through Keswick, Ambleside, over Wrynose pass, Hardknott pass, Eskdale and on to Cockermouth. Hardnott pass is apparently one of the steepest roads in England.

This really was one of those exploding kneecap days, when you wish you had lower gears.

Tip for other cyclists: have a good think about footware, my hard race cycling shoes were very slippery on such a steep hill (25%+), and the road is mostly not wide enough to cycle downhill a little, click in and turn around, for the first time in many years I fell on my arse with only 1 foot clicked in :).
