From Febuary 2012 I cycled about 2 months through Namibia, here are my thoughts on the beers of Namibia.
So here they are in no particular order (everything appart from Windhoek is imported from SA):
Hansa : 4.5% lager, well it has more flavour than some beers, lets call it an “acquired taste”.
Castle : Slightly better than Hansa and quite drinkable.
Carling Black Label : 5.5% Probably the best all round beer, it’s quite refreshing and has an ok flavour.
Savannah : 6% Cider, they call it a dry cider but I found it more like a very sweet cider, also available in a “light” version at 3%.
Windhoek : 4% Brewed under the Reinheitgebet (Reinheit convention) it has no additives, so it’s a very clean and fresh beer, though a little thin on taste I found, they also have a “draught” version in a bottle that has a little more flavour.
Windhoek bok beer: 6.5% a seasonal beer that they sometimes bring out as a special. This ws the best beer Ive tasted in africa up to this point (5 months in), it tastes very much like some of the Belgian dark beers.
Windhoek Tafel Lager : 4% Slightly more flavor than the other windhoek beers but nothing special.
Other: In the bigger cities several European imports are a available too, but you guessed it, mainly the tasteless lagers.
