This was the year of changes for us, with periods of stress, doubt, panic and joy. But slowly we’ve found our rhythm in our new way of life as nomads.
Thanks everyone for your continuing support and interest in our Adventure through Africa. We hope you’ll continue to show an interest in our trip into 2012 and beyond, and also hope you’ll find your own adventure in the new year.
We both wish you a happy Christmas and New Year, be it with family and friends, on the road or in your own way.
So its goodbye 2011 from Him
And hello 2012 from Me
Nice beginning of your short break. Sometimes you have bad days but you always find your way out. After these bad days you always get good days and you remember again why you did it for. Nice stories horse man. Really liked the hikes adventures. Getting more jealous 🙂
Will be getting a beer on you at the end of the year. Happy cycling year.
Thanks Peter, I’m also slightly jealous of 2 out of 3 of your pillars in life:)
I hope you will make your basecamp of the first pillar in a few years……….????……………the house I mean huh. hahaha.
And the 2nd pillar is hard to get out of your mind. She is such a beautyfull…………………. company. Your red heart is still beating huh.
Where you gonna drink, your pillar in life, on 31 dec 2400 lt or utc ???
Always have fun. Cheers mate !!!!!!!
Couldn’t help wondering what would happen if you just swapped location on those two pics? 😉
The “wee ride across the desert” was a blast. Thanks for your support. As I struggled up the hills, I encouraged myself with the thought that I was not carrying 25kg of luggage!
Mail to follow soon re your Nam trip

Happy New Year, where-ever you are. May the wind be from behind and may the road fall away gently into the distance…..
Travelling alone is hard, warm high and difficult. But, sure you met people to help you once. I just have seen on your website the Lesotho’s who take care of your bike, seen the resort where you have had a nice welcome and that makes that you have the power to go on. Unless you are an ego tripper, you cannot avoid people, you met them at time to help you when it is hard. I have respect for the power which what you continue the journey and I think you will drive as far as you intends to do. That’s why I believe in you and wish you all the best hard days in 2012 and always some easy trips to take a rest. Take care of yourself, because you have to continue a good feeling.
Here every thing is oké. We have had nice days with a mini part of people around us. Had nice conversations, no nonsense but good stories and feelings and we hope this will in continue in 2012.
Shane go for it, do your best but especially enjoy your trip
Thanks for the wise words:) I can’t live without people and support alone the way, but a few days alone from time to time is nice:)
