My tent is my castle!
For a solo cyclist I have a fairly large tent. The Hilleberg nallo 3 Yup its a 3 person all season tent all to myself. I'm a little claustrophic but also think that a tent should be spacious when its your home from home in all weather, the last thing I want is to have to lie down for 15 hours in a 1 person tent during a rest day for example.I love the Hilleberg, the craftsmanship and materials are great and its well thought out, good ventilation and easy to set up. And at just under 3kg for a 3 person tent with footprint its fairly lightweight.
The only down side is that the tent is not self supporting, it would be nice to only use the inner tent when in the tropics, if I ever feel rich enough I might buy a 2 person tent like the MSR Hubba Hubba or something similar for use in warmer/dryer countries.
Update: Due to my upcoming trip to Africa I finally gave in and bought the MSR, to read my review click here!
The bed:
My sleeping bag is a custom made to measure bag from Tatteljee in Amsterdam. I can't handle a real mummy sleeping bag, I get very claustrophic if I cant move my feet and knee's. There's always something unique and fun about getting measured up for a sleepingbag in a small dusty shop somewhere in an industrial estate in the middle of winter. Tatteljee use the highest quality down and you get alot of advise and more choice than any of the "off the shelf" brands, the service is great and the warranty is life long for the first user:)...cant beat that!!! And most important to me, its warm and spacious.
My sleepingmat is an Exped downmat 7, Light, comfortable, compact and in conjunction with the chair kit makes a nice seat (which also can be used inside my tent:), it also works well as a sunshade in the desert.....
